It is stated in writing by the Social Security Institution (SGK) that ‘there is no difference in any kind of premium collection transactions that are held in any bank branch  than the payment of premiums via credit card’ and that ‘such convenience is provided for the individuals who are in difficulty of cash that are liable for premium payment’’.

Social Security premium payment may casue the need of fund according to the organisation’s cash flow. The new application of Social Security Institution (SGK) provides a great convenience in terms of this need.
In the statement, it was reminded that a significant step was taken in order for the liables of premium payments that signed premium collection protocol with banks in January, February and March in 2009 to pay the premiums in an easy and rapid way.

In the announcement, within the scope of Social Security Institution (SGK)’s citizen oriented service manner,  stating that some liables , that made a deal with banks to make the monthly premium payments via credit card , the list of the 13 banks that signed the protocol was given as follows;

''Akbank, Albaraka Türk Katılım Bankası, Asya Katılım Bankası, Fortisbank, ING Bank, Turkish Bank, Türk Ekonomi Bankası, Türkiye Garanti Bankası, Türkiye Halk Bankası, Türkiye İş Bankası, Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası, T.C. Ziraat Bankası, Yapı Kredi Bankası.''

It is recorded in the announcement that states that premium payment liables can pay the premiums through payment order given by the relevant credit card of the related bank or via the alternative payment channels (online banking, ATM, etc) of the same bank, that there is no difference in any kind of premium collection transactions that are held in any bank branch  than the payment of premiums via credit card’ and that ‘such convenience is provided for the individuals who are in difficulty of cash that are liable for premium payment’’.

Some of the banks that signed the premium collection protocol via credit card has started to carry this application into action, and the others will do the same folloed by the construction of neccessary infrastructure. T.C. Ziraat Bank has already started to apply all premium payment transactions via credit card , and Garanti Bank has started to take action only for insuranced employees that work on behalf of Garanti or independents for now.

Within the scope of the protocol about the premium payments done via credit card, the general application of the bank will be effective. However, the amount of the commission is 1% of the paid premium amount, yet varies according to the bank being worked with. The commission will be paid to the bank by the liables. According to the legislation, in the case that the premiums are not paid until the due date of payment term, approximately 4% delay penalty and default interest will be in charge in the first month and it also seen when this is taken into consideration that the amount of the commission is fractional. On the other hand, banks give plus credits into credit card for credit card applications.

This statement that the premiums can be paid via credit card was also announced in Social Security Instituiton’s own web site.
